Don Quijote, Japan’s popular discount store chain, might be coming to the Philippines in the near future. As part of Don Quijote’s future expansion in Southeast Asia, the business giant is eyeing the country as one of its new branches outside Japan. Don Quijote currently have new branches in Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Hawaii. Aside from the Philippines, Taiwan and Malaysia are also on the top list.

Based on a recent report by Nikkei Asian Review, the world’s largest financial newspaper based in Japan, Pan Pacific International Holdings President and CEO Koji Ohara revealed their plans to enter the Philippine Market. Pan Pacific is Don Quijote’s parent company.

Preparing for the SEA expansion, Ohara said that “Don Quijote won’t stay in Japan but will build a top-level retailer worldwide” in a press release.
